When people were thinking about dieting celebrities Renee Zellweger never came to mind until the year 2001 when she was staring in the famous Bridget Jones movie for the first time. In 2004 she then also stared in the sequel of the movie together with Colin Firth and Hugh Grant. For her role as the chubby single columnist she had to gain quite a bit of weight and Hollywood was in shock at how quickly she was able to put on those pounds and shed them again.

Renee Zellweger's weight is not healthy

Within a couple of months Renee was able to gain 20 pounds for the movie eating six pizzas, sweets and junk food every day. She also stopped exercising which she had done regularly before. Within a couple of months she went from a size 4 to a size 14 – that cannot be healthy! While the movie was shot she maintained her size and when asked by interviewers also said that she was still feeling comfortable with herself.

Then, when the filming was done she knew that she had to get in shape again and says that losing the weight was easier than she had thought.

Initially Weight Watchers offered her a $100,000 for every pound that she lost with them after the sequel of the movie in 2004. However, Renee turned this offer done insisting that she wanted to do it her own way.

Eat this - the no-diet weight loss solution

Renee is said to have used the Zone diet, the macrobiotic diet and also the Kimkins diet plan to lose weight so quickly. Reportedly she mainly ate tuna, fish, cold meat, salads and vegetables for quite a while and followed a daily exercise routine. Every day she spent about 2 hours in the gym with a personal trainer. She admitted that from time to time losing weight was tough as you have to stick to your plans. Renee said she was finding it especially hard to abstain from fish and chips and other pizza that she likes a lot.

After Bridget Jones everyone admired Renee when she showed off her slim figure at the Oscars, but after that it seems Renee has never fully stopped dieting.

She says that the stressful life that she is having at the moment is leading to her being so thin. She insists that she has still all the curves she needs, but if you have looked at some pictures taken from her you wonder what Mrs Zellweger is talking about. Pictures of her have circulated were she is incredibly thin. Since Bridget Jones it seems the starlet has gotten even thinner than before and many argue that she doesn’t look healthy anymore. Although the model-thin actress doesn’t look healthy at 110lbs any more to me she says that she admires the voluptuous female stars of the 40s and 50s like Marilyn Monroe. Still Renee herself seems to have submitted to Hollywood’s beauty paradigm.

Renee Zellweger gained lots of weight for her role in Bridget Jones and lost it afterward through dieting

Before Bridget Jones Renee was never seen as a super-slim celebrity, but now whenever the talk is on really thin celebrity Renee Zellweger is mentioned which I personally think is quite sad. She claims that she doesn’t suffer from a weight-related medical condition, but looking at her size-zero figure on the red carpets of this world one starts to wonder if this is really true.

I don’t think Renee Zellweger can be a role-model concerning diet habits. I admire her for the fact that she managed to gain and lose weight for a movie character with so much ambition, but the fact that it seems that she hasn’t been able to recover from her unhealthy eating habits since then makes me question if she knows what she is doing to her body.

It’s a matter of perspective how you interpret the ups and downs of dieting.
One might say the “ups” are the emotionally driven HIGHS experienced when all aspects of dieting seem to be successfully elevating us to higher and higher places of motivation, which in essence, allows the numbers on the scale to go, ironically, down. The “downs” on the other hand, are the emotionally driven LOWS experienced when all aspects of dieting seem to be failing, known to many as “falling off the dieting wagon.” This falling down, then, causes the scales to climb upward.
Another perspective might give thought to the “ups” representing the times when our weight causes the numbers on the scale to rise, with the “downs” giving meaning to our leaner times.
There is so much to explore in our vast culture of dieting. It is definitely one full of differing perspectives, many opinions and even more ups-and-downs.

I think people blow weight loss and gain way out of proportion. They always scrutinize someone and that person is either too fat or too thin and their only excuse for being too lazy too lose weight is that they have to learn to accept their own “body type”. But the fact is, if you exercise a lot an put on enough lean muscle to get rid of your excess fat, you can be as thin as Renee and that doesn’t mean your unhealthy. Renee looks fine. She looks like a gymnast who skimped on her upper body training.
