Hard boiled eggs – delicious and nutritious!

Eggs are definitely delicious and nutritious. You can get them all year round and use them for healthy andhard boiled eggs are part of many diet plans good tasting foods of all kinds. Also they are quite cheap, butstill make a good meal and can be prepared in many different ways:
scrambled eggs, omlette, hard-boiled eggs, eggs sunny side up, coddled eggs, fried eggs...
Really egg-ceptional foods you think? Wait until you hear what else they can do for your body!

Eggs consist of yolk and white, of which yolk represents fat and white represents proteins. The yolk also contains a high level of cholesterol, actually about two thirds of the recommended daily level. But they contain a wide array of vitamins and minerals too, which makes them an integral part of our diet.

The vitamins to be found in eggs are A, D, E, B1, B2, B6 and B12. Quite a selection! But also minerals such as iron, zinc, calcium, iodine and selenium are contained in hard boiled eggs.

Eggs are also a source of the rare, but important nutrient choline. Our body also produces choline, but on a very low level, which is why extra sources of choline are important. Choline is important for the cellular process, brain function, nervous system and cardiovascular health.

The protein found in eggs is really pure and therefore eggs are also often suggested for dieting programs.

Large eggs contain about 6.3 grams of protein and therefore if you are undergoing a low-fat diet you might be asked to eat about two eggs a day. If you are, however, on a low calorie diet you should rather cut back on the yolk and use two whites and one yolk for your scrambled eggs.

I knew that eggs where healthy, but I didn't know that they contain so many different nutrients until I did this research. So my findings make me really look more forward to Easter where I will be able to enjoy some hard boiled eggs without any regret.

Wishing you happy Easter,
Dieting Delilah
