2 - I'll get by with a little help from my friends

In their famous song the Beatles sing: "Oh I get by with a little help from my friends,....Mm going to try with a little help from my friends." Apart from being a really good song these lyrics also have some truth in them concerning dieting: if you really want to lose weight and stick to your diet plans you better get some support from your friends and family.
Many people make the mistake that they try to lose weight completely on their own. They are embarassed by their weight and don't want to admit that they are to heavy. Therefore, they start dieting without telling anyone.
But that is the wrong way! Imagine meeting up with your friends in a restaurant. If they don't know that you are trying to lose weight they might talk you in having a starter or a desert and you will order it because otherwise they will find out that you are on a diet. If they, however, know that you are struggling with your weight and trying to lose some pounds they will support you and probably also not eat any desert in order not to get you tempted to do the same.
Most women have issues with their weight and therefore it is simply stupid to believe that your friends won't understand you. They will! Maybe they will also join you in your dieting efforts. Dieting together with another person is even more motivating than just having his/her support.
Some interesting figures to the end. According to an article from USA today 66% of Americans say that friends and relatives have actually helped and not hindered their dieting efforts. 57% would prefer to have a diet buddy when losing weight.
The article also talks about the dieting success of two friends living on the opposite coasts of America, who succeeded in losing weight together. This shows that your weight loss buddy doesn't need to live right next door. It is enough if you talk to each other over the phone, chat over the internet or write emails regularly. You will see that this will give you more strength and motivation to lose weight.
If you don't have friends or family who you think will be supporting you with your efforts you can also find many diet support networks online that will keep you on track.
