Russian Airforce Diet

The urban legend is that the soldiers of the Soviet Union would eat this to stay lean and fit, but that’s highly unlikely.

It has such a low total calorie count that you will lose weight, but if you go beyond the prescribed seven days, you’ll be starving your body of needed nutrients. Side effects include light headedness and poor concentration.

Russian Airforce diet

However this is a good 7 day diet if you just want to quickly get rid of a few pounds, then go back to eating sensibly after a week. Unlike with soup diets, where you can eat as much as you want to, you have to stick to strict rules when following the Russion air force diet. You need to drink 4 glasses of water a day, and you can season your food only with herbs, salt and pepper, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and ketchup.

  • Day 1
  • Breakfast: coffee
Lunch: two eggs and 1 tomato
Dinner: seven oz. of red meat and a green salad

  • Day 2
  • Breakfast: coffee and toast or crackers
Lunch: seven ounces of red meat and a green salad
Dinner: Five and ¼ oz. of ham and 1 cup of yoghurt

  • Day 4

Lunch: Five and ¼ oz. of gruyere cheese, 1 egg, and 1 carrot
Dinner: fruit salad and 1 cup of yoghurt

  • Day 5
  • Breakfast: Five and ¼ oz. of ham and 1 cup of carrots
Lunch: Seven ounces of broiled fish and 1 tomato
Dinner: Eight and ¾ oz. of red meat

  • Day 6
  • Breakfast: coffee and toast or crackers
Lunch: a citrus fruit, and 1/4 baked chicken
Dinner: two eggs and 1 cup of raw carrots

  • Day 7
  • Breakfast: coffee and toast or crackers
Lunch: seven ounces of red meat and a citrus fruit
Dinner: anything you like which is less than 500 calories

The Verdict:Don’t go on this diet if you’re going to operate heavy machinery, or need more than 70% of your total brain functioning. You’ll feel hungry most of the day, not to mention in a really crabby mood because you’re not eating anything near a decent meal. However, you will lose a few pounds, so the misery pays off, but don’t expect any drastic changes.

Feedback:“I’m generally happy with my weight but gained five pounds over the holidays and couldn’t fit in my jeans. I just wanted a way of losing it quickly. This worked but it was too complicated—had to weigh everything, segregate my food from my roommate’s. Thank God it only lasted 7 days.” – Patricia, (STATE).

    Dear She!

During the time of breastfeeding I wouldn’t suggest that you go on a diet or cut down on calories as your babe needs all the nutrients it can get and it will affect your milk supply and quality. Once you stop breastfeeding you can think of going on a diet.

This diet is very similar to the 13 day, and i see some have done this 13 days, but if it cant be good for you after 7 days, why do it for 13 days? can there be such a health risk invovled in done more than 13 days because the calories are very similar to the metabolism diet? Just some questions so that we dont damage any vital organs doing the diet!

Hello! On the Russian Air Force diet I lost 10 lbs. the first week and am beginning my second week. The diet provides all food groups: meats, vegetables, fruits, grains, dairy. The quantities are not what we Americans are used to; however, there may be something to be said for cutting down on what we eat as a nation. I am running on this diet and feeling great. This doesn’t seem like a fad to me; it is all unprocessed, healthy food – just not as much as we are used to eating.
